First Practice Match

Two of the tour teams took to the ice on a balmy June evening on Wednesday 13 June at Stirling Ice Rink.

Despite the quality of the elite players going through various training exercises the 9 players that took the ice were not intimidated and played a high standard of curling on excellent keen swinging ice.

After a strong start by Robert Anderson’s team the Jim Cullen team came right back at them and in a close finish Jim played a draw to the 4ft  to win the game by 6 shots to 5. A great team shot with excellent sweeping by Phil and Frank and some great encouragement from Ian in the head!

Sean Murphy had a short stint as sub when Ian had to go off for an end to strap up a troublesome knee, a bit worrying for the youngest player in the West squad.

A good debrief session was then enjoyed in the bar after the  game.
