61 worthy curlers are heading out to Canada to try and regain The Strathcona Cup so deservedly won by the 2003 tour, but reclaimed by the Canadian Tourists in 2009. The tourists, as we are known, will travel the length and breadth of Canada split into three tours known simply as The East Tour, The West Tour and The Central Tour with each tour comprising of 20 curlers playing in 5 rinks.
The Tours will be captained by well kent curlers namely; Greig Henderson, Haddo House CC (West), Willie Nicoll, FIfe Bank of Scotland Fife CC (East) and Mike Ferguson, Edzell CC (Central). The Captains will be supported by the overall Tour Captain RCCC President Bill Duncan (above).
Bill says: –
“The Strathcona Cup Tour 2013 promises to be one of the busiest and challenging of all tours with curlers from all walks of life coming together to compete in the true spirit of curling. We will be heading off determined to bring the Strathcona Cup back home with us”
Various groups of tourists are busy working away on all the fine detailed required for any tour to be a success. Travel, Clothing, Communications, Accomodation, Itinerary, and much more all require very careful planning.
Please keep checking back for more information as we build towards departure.
