Name: David Hardie

Where are you from: Kirkgunzeon, Dumfries and Galloway.

Occupation:
I am a civil engineer whomstudied at Newcastle University. Having worked for consultants and private companies, I established my own contracting company in 1996. Currently we employ 50 people.

Age, family details:
I am 52 years old, have been married to Fiona for 28 years and have three children, David (25), Aline (22) and Grant (20).

What are your clubs:
Crocketford, New Abbey and Castle Kennedy.
Curl out of Dumfries.

Proudest achievement in curling:
Winning the Scottish Pairs Championship.

What are you doing now in curling:
Playing club curling at Dumfries.
Skipping a rink in Scottish Senior Championship.
Still enjoy competing in Scottish Pairs with Robin Halliday but am now getting beaten by my son.

What motivated you to come on tour:
The idea of competing for Scotland, travelling through Canada and enjoying the friendship.

What are you most looking forward to/what have you enjoyed most about tour:
I am looking forward to playing and curling against the Canadians.

Any specific roles in the tour planning and/or during the tour:
I undertook the task of organising the “off-ice” clothing.

Other sports/interests/information:
I play golf (handicap 10) and take part in car rallying.
The is mostly taken up with children and work.
My wife Fiona is a past Scottish Junior Champion and is currently vice-President of the Ladies Branch of the RCCC. She comes from a well known curling family from Stranraer.
All my children curl and Grant is playing in both the Scottish Men’s and Junior Campionships whilst I am away on tour.
I enjoy car rallying and in 2010 season finished 4th in the British Tarmac Championship. My car is a Subaru Impreza.
