East Garleton Farm, Drem, North Berwick.
Farmer Landscaper. Mixed family farm in East Lothian growing arable crops and running a Simmental herd of beef cows. Also run a horse livery yard and an agricultural contractors business.
Age, family details:
51, married to Catriona with a daughter Lynsey 23 and a son Alexander 21. Lynsey is in her final year at Heriot Watt University studying interior design. Alexander has a business management degree and is completing his professional golf associate at Royal County Down Golf Club.
What are your club:
My mother club is Athelstaneford (the birth place of the Scottish Saltire flag after a famous defeat of the English) and the club curls out of Murrayfield Edinburgh. I am a reserve at Yester C C and curl out of Kelso Ice Rink in the Borders.
Proudest achievement in curling:
Many in my earlier years while curling at University and also winning the Oslo cup.
What are you doing now in curling:
Enjoying Club,Province and just started Seniors curling.
What motivated you to come on tour:
Having heard from other curling friends at a young age about these tours. I had a game plan to come on this tour before being too old to fully enjoy the wonderful occasion. I had a trial run on the Swiss tour in 2009.
What are you most looking forward to:
Looking forward to winning some curling games and making new friends.
Any specific roles in the tour planning and/or during the tour:
Helping a fellow tourist David Hardie with the ‘Off Ice’ clothing. David and I did brilliantly in my humble opinion. He only made one small mistake in thinking he was an athlete in his own sweater size. I unfortunately Misssss!!!!!!sized four out door jackets most notably David Hardie’s jacket was unfortunately a 3XL. Sorry guys-eat up!!!
Enjoy most sports but curling,badminton,shooting and golf are my main hobbies.
I enjoy travelling and holidays abroad. I was very fortunate the travel on a working holiday for nine months round the world post university.
