I am a farmer’s son from Lanarkshire and have been farming all my life. I married Alison 10 years ago; we have no children but have 8 nieces and nephews and are proud of them all.
We moved to the north-east over 7 years ago to join the family business, Alison was very happy as she is an Aberdeenshire “quine” we moved into Fetterletter, Fyvie.
I started curling 20 years ago with Lesmahagow CC; I served on the committee for years and then became president of the club. Since moving north I joined Haddo House CC and am currently on the committee.
My proudest time in my curling career is now, representing Scotland to tour Canada.
The first ever final you reach is fantastic, I did that in 1999 where we won the ‘Farmers’ in Hamilton. I’ve been in 6 finals at the ‘Highland Week’ and been lucky 3 times, getting to the final stages of any competition is good. On the tour I am the judge in the East everyone knows I’m a fair man!!!
I enjoy playing golf but don’t seem to get much time, and there is room for improvement, in my younger years I played a lot of darts and even have silverware.
